Black and White is an exhibit focused on how individual artists create, develop and explore ideas about their work while eliminating color. The purpose of this show is to showcase the various processes and expression that are characteristic of the artist members of Buster Levi.
There are times when artists eliminate color for the clarity it offers or practical reasons such as sketches from life or studies exploring a narrow concern such as form. However, for others it can be a springboard for imagination and investigation into the essential elements of their art. In this exhibition, there is work concentrating on line, investigations into spatial and light relationships and the forceful use of gesture. The work of others explores black and white for its own potential in assemblage, collage or painting. The artists in the gallery follow their own interests and not a common aesthetic mode resulting in a rich and multifarious array of art.
The gallery will be open on weekends from noon to five pm.
